    Course Selection

    Russian universities allow international students to from a wide range of courses to study. International students deciding to study literature will have the greatest privilege of studying the world’s famous writers such as Anton Chekhov, Leo Tolstroy and Alexander Pushkin in these authors’ home country. International students wishing to study in Russia should at least have studied Russian language for one full year. However, there is a special exception for students wishing to study medicine, English management and engineering as they don’t have to go through the one year language program.

    Tuition

    Universities in Russia are very affordable! Tuition fees range from $2000 to $3000 for an academic year including the language training program. Note that tuition fees may vary  from school to school. For instance, tuition fees for courses like medicine , engineering, design are usually higher and range from $2500-$4000 per academic year.

    Living Expenses

    There are usually two types of accommodation: hostel and off-campus. Cost of hostel accommodation ranges from $150-$200 per month. Off-campus accommodation are usually on the high side, and is between $250-$400 monthly.

    Food is extremely cheap in Russia and one can use between 150-200 per month depending on the eating habits of the student. Different varieties of food are available in the school canteen and as an international student, you may choose to eat from the canteen or prepare your meals.

    Language Training

    Language training is mandatory for all international students applying to study in Russia. Since courses are taught in Russian language, it is expected that all international students applying to study in Russia undergo language training. This is usually carried out in the first year of admission and will cost the student approximately $1500. Students who are successful are permitted to continue their study. However, to study in Russia, a student requires approximately $3500-$4000 annually, for tuition, food, accommodation, etc.

    Obtaining a Student VISA

    For international students wishing to study in Russia, you will need to obtain a student visa. To be eligible for a visa, you need to submit all necessary documents including university invitation letter and letter of finances to the Russian consulate in your country.
