Howard College: Acceptance Rate, Tuition and Ranking

     

    Founded sometime in 1867, Howard University is a historically black tertiary institution in Washington D.C. Its primary campus sits on 250 acres and more than six thousand undergraduates are enrolled at Howard every year. The university’s campus can easily be accessed via the local metro system, and students are allowed to bring their vehicles to school after the first year.     There are a number of schools and colleges operating under Howard University’s cap, including a School of Business, a Medical College, a College of Engineering, Architecture and Computer Sciences College, as well as a Law School.

    Some of the most popular courses at this university are Physical Sciences, Communication, and Journalism. Regardless of the undergraduate program they have chosen, all undergraduate students are expected to complete courses in English composition and Afro-American studies which are part of the first year core curriculum. Howard University is equally one of the best places in the U.S. to study French Language & Culture, Music Therapy, and Afro-American Studies.

    The student/faculty ratio at Howard University is respectable-eight to one, which means that each student is given a great deal of the lecturer’s attention, and feels confident in their rapid academic progress.     The world class education provided by Howard University comes at a cost. Recent cost of attendance for undergraduate students is put at just under $50,000 year, including room and board. For graduate students, the annual total cost of attendance will depend largely on their choice of school.

    The university’s athletic teams compete nationally in NCAA Division I, which means that sports-related scholarships and grants are available for students. Additionally, about 80 percent of all full-time undergraduate students are awarded some sort of need-based financial aid, and the average amount of the funding is about $10,000.

    SAT is arguably the most popular university admission test in the USA. For Howard, your score should be about 1,200 to secure an admission. If you are intend to apply with ACT, your score should be around 24.
