    Slovakia, is known as the Slovak Republic, a popular fast growing country in Central Europe bordered nicely by Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary.     Slovak Higher Education is made up of public, state, and private schools of higher education (colleges):

    • Public schools of higher education  Most of the tertiary institutions are public institutions.What this means is that they are collectively financed by the government and business activities.
    • State institutions of higher education are usually police,military and medical institutions. Corresponding ministries in the government maintain these programmes running.
    • Private institutions of higher education These institutions are quite rare but established and financed by non-government institutions, but approved by the Ministry of Education.

    Academic organization

    Academic programs are organized within the following study programmes and “stages”:

    • Stage 1: Bachelor study programmes takes 3 to 4 years;
    • Stage 2: Master study programmes last 1 to 3 years;
    • Some programmes include Stage 1 and 2 studies in one single study;
    • Stage 3: Doctor study programme last 3–4 years;
    • Specialization studies in medicine.

    University-type schools of tertiary education provide proper study programmes at all three academic levels. Non-university-type institutions of higher education or professional schools of higher education usually provide Bachelor studies only.

    International applicants who are unable to meet all the requirements for admission are expected to attend preparatory courses, including Slovak language courses. Note that programs of Slovak language are also organised by respective universities

    General application requirements

    . Admission to do a Master’s degree programme would depend on the completion of  a relevant Bachelor degree programme.

    International students who would like to study a full study programme are encouraged to apply directly to individual higher education institution.

    Admission requirements for international students are also the same as for Slovak nationals. International Baccalaureate holders are expected to meet the general requirements for admission to higher education institutions in Slovakia. Every faculty determines its own criteria for students’ admissions.

    Students should therefore ask for detailed information and apply for admission at the faculty of their choice.

    English language preparation for studying in Slovakia

    Business Studies in Slovakia

    Due to the strong economy and high income level, Slovakia continues to appeal to international students who are interested in studying business. Students interested in studying business will attend one of Slovakia’s universities, many of which are state owned and operated.

    Several international students are constantly drawn to the educational opportunities in Slovakia because of the opportunity to study in an economy that is emerging from communist control, and doing nicely.     Students who study in Slovakia will typically begin with Stage 1 or Bachelor programs, which would last three to four years. Stage 2 Masters programs add an addition 1 to 3 years. A masters in business  takes two additional years.

    Masters Tuition Fee

    International students would be expected to pay tuition between $2,000 to $8,000 USD per year and will also need cash to take care of living expenses. Please be informed that applicants who come from Slovakia will be able to receive their college education at free tuition

    In a few cases, Slovakian universities might have more applicants than they have available spaces. When this happens, series of examinations will be used to determine which applicants should be allowed entrance to the program.

    Academic calendar in Slovakia typically runs from August through May. Some students are able to take summer classes if they want to shorten their length of study.

    Regardless of the affordable tuition fees, the overall quality of tertiary education is world class, and a degree from a Slovakian university will be accepted by organization and top companies across Europe and other countries as well. International students who graduate with a master’s degree in business from a Slovakian university are able to land a top job with competitive  corporations and businesses throughout the world, but particularly in Central Europe.
