Application Process

The admission process to study medicine differs across university, however in general, you are expected to apply directly to your chosen university via post or online. Please be aware that the South Korean academic year starts around March, although some institutions typically take on new applicants twice a year –sometime in March and September. Deadlines for March applications are usually between September and November, while for September entry, deadlines are often between May to June. In addition, universities in South Korea do just two semesters, with a summer break running from July to August and a winter break from December to February as well.

Understandably, while proficiency in the Korean language is crucial, it is noteworthy that about 30 percent of programs available at South Korean universities are taught in English. This, along with the fact that English proficiency is growing fast across the country, helps to reduce the language issue for international students which was a big barrier.
