    If you did not know, the University of Winnipeg is a renowned Canadian public university. It is based in Winnipeg, in the state of Manitoba. This institution was founded sometime in 1967, after Manitoba College and Wesley Colleges came together to form United College and received a charter. University of Winnipeg operates a bicameral system of government, with a distinguished senate and a board of governors. These governors exercise regulatory control over the policy in all matters pertaining to the institution. These two bodies are coordinated by an elected President, who would take up institutional leadership.     The University of Winnipeg has really nice buildings such as Wesley Hall, Buhrer Centre, Richardson College for Environment and Science Complex and Asper Centre for Theatre, McFeetors Hall and UWSA Daycare. The Buhrer Centre for example houses the faculty of business, economics and professional, applied education. McFeetors Hall is purely for on-campus student accommodation. The buildings at Winnipeg are reserved for architectural interest. In fact, the Canadian Institute for Stained Glass has studied and visually recorded the presence of stained glass monuments at the University of Winnipeg. There is also an Anthropology Museum on-campus, as part of the Anthropology Department at the university. Centennial Hall holds the campus art gallery at Gallery 1C03. The university has invested over CAD 200 million on its infrastructure and renovations.

    Currently, there are 6 faculties at the university. These faculties include the faculties of arts, business and economics, applied health, education, science and graduate studies. There are three colleges on-campus: the Global College, Richardson College, and Menno Simons College. On top of that, the university has 11 institutes for different courses such as learning and secular society, academic writing, urban studies, etc. Some of the popular and best known programs are courses in theatre and film, environment studies and human rights.     In terms of humanitarian acts, the University of Winnipeg is also accomodating of the Aboriginal people, and awards a number of scholarships and services to them. In fact, admitted students at the University are expected to take a course on the Indigenous people. The university also offers degrees in Indigenous studies and has an Indigenous student services centre.

    Per academicals, this institution is ranked among the top 5%  universities in the world. The Globe and Mail, alongside Maclean’s Magazine, both have ranked the University of Winnipeg among the top 15 universities in Canada in the category of student satisfaction in undergraduate level. Others, such as QS and ARWU, have ranked the University of Winnipeg beyond the 1000 ranking range.

    At the moment, the University of Winnipeg is regarded as a medium-sized institution with an enrolment size of almost 10,000 undergraduate students and roughly 200 graduate students. About 5% of the students are international students. The teaching staff has a total size of 361, whilst the administrative staff is around 444. In many ways, it is a selective institution, with an estimated acceptance rate pegged 68%.What this means is that if 100 people apply to the institution, roughly 60 to 70 of the applicants will be successful in obtaining admission. This is seen by its relatively low entry requirements, with a GPA of 2.4 required for admission.
