Cleveland State University (CSU) is a renowed public research academic institution in Cleveland, Ohio. Founded sometime in 1964, it acquired Fenn College and began classes the following year. Also, in 1969, it obtained the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Presently, CSU is a member of the University System of Ohio doing at least 200 academic programs and about 120,000 people as its alumni. Today, Cleveland State University has about nine colleges and five specialty schools.
Popular programs at Cleveland State University are the School of Communication and the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs. The 2019 US News and World Report put the urban affairs college as thirteenth in the Local Government Management and fourth in the Urban Policy policies. Also, it ranked the School of Communication as the first terminal MA-granting program in the country and eighth in research productivity.

Cleveland State University’s College of Business is equally in the top 10 in terms of its performance in the Certification Public Accountant licensure. On top of that, the university was the first to award a postgraduate degree in software engineering in the state of Ohio. Besides its primary campus in Cleveland, it also runs a Westlake satellite campus.
In 2006, Cleveland State University rebuilt its Parker Hannifan Hall to become a College of Graduate Studies. Afterwards, it completed its recreation center for both local and international students. In order to encourage thousands of students to live on campus, it built thousands of housing units. Fenn Tower, its most famous building, became the school’s new dormitory. Sometime In 2010, the university introduced bus rapid transit in Euclid Avenue to connect it to downtown Cleveland’s Public Square. They are currently working on plans to transform the academic institution to a residential campus with the construction of the Julka Hull and the Student Center.

The university established a collaboration with the South China University of Technology in 2012 to allow students to explore and receive double degrees. Also, it has a partnership with Northeast Ohio Medical University to train healthcare professionals in urban setting work. Recently, the State of Ohio gave fuding for the renovation of Playhouse Square to become its standalone film school.
The Cleveland campus runs its own student-run radio station with a 630-watt transmitter atop Rhodes Tower. Also, it operates an independent student paper called The Cauldron and a School of Communication laboratory newspaper named The Cleveland Stater. In 2005, The Gavel and The Vindicator came first for the most excellent law school paper in the country. Interestingly, the campus does not have a student television station even though it is awarding degrees in video and film productions. Athletic teams are competitive in 17 sports in the Horizon League.
