 Scholarships & Funding

The University of Arizona offers substantial, multi-year scholarships to students who exhibit outstanding academic performance, including freshman, transfer, and graduate students from all over the world. For incoming freshmen, scholarship award values increase based on a combination of GPA, SAT or ACT, and English proficiency. Scholarships are also available for transfer students based on GPA. Note that at the graduate level, scholarships decisions are mainly made within the program of study and are typically a combination of fellowships, loans, and/or grants. Scholarships are usually offered when admission decisions are made. What this means is that you are automatically considered for scholarships when they apply for admission.

The university also boast an internationally recognized scholarship portal and program that matches UA students with potential funding, as well as assisting students in the application process.

Entry Requirements

Students the academic program options available at the University of Arizona by visiting the undergraduate majors list and the Graduate Catalog and Program Descriptions. Entry requirements vary between programmes but there are general guidelines for admission.

Undergraduate

The University of Arizona admits students who have a high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and/or a transfer GPA of 2.5. Students may be considered for admission based on improvement and academic potential if they do not meet these requirements. Equivalencies below give students a general idea of their U.S. GPA. Grade evaluation conducted by the University of Arizona’s review committee may differ from a student’s calculation.

Graduate

International students must meet all of the basic admission requirements for the Graduate College, including having earned a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 based on a 4.00 scale, where 3.00 represents a B and 4.00 an A. Students are required to produce proof of English proficiency, proof of financial resources, and health insurance.

Students are encouraged to visit the university website for specific information about admission requirements and application deadlines, which vary by department. Graduate departments may recommend students for conditional admission if they meet all Graduate College requirements except the minimum English proficiency requirement. Conditional admission requires students to apply to and enroll at the UA Center for English as a Second Language at their own expense, with the expectation of achieving English proficiency within one year.
