University of Aberdeen Overview: Admissions, Tuition and Accommodation

     

     

     

     

    The University of Aberdeen ranks as the fifth oldest university in the UK, with an amazing medieval campus that goes back to 1495. The university continues to welcome lecturers and international students at all levels of academic study, both on campus and through their distance learning program. It also runs one of the largest medical campuses in Europe, in addition to the amazing Sir Duncan Rice Library which gives panoramic views across the cosmopolitan yet compact city and its beautiful beaches.

    Student Accommodation

    • The moment you receive an unconditional offer, you will be guaranteed a place in student accommodation run by the University of Aberdeen or preferred partner, providing your application was received by the deadline.
    • Interestingly,most university accommodation can be found within walking distance of the primary campus, with a range of accommodation at Hillhead student village, at Kings College campus, and close to the city centre. Students are able to view and apply for accommodation through the college website, and connect with flatmates before arriving by joining their flat group.
    • You’ll equally find frequent free buses that run between Kings College and Foresterhill campuses. There are also a number of  buses which run across the city centre, train station and airport. Please do well to visit the university website for further details.

    Nightlife and Culture

    • At the moment, Aberdeen is an early-breakfast city because of it onward ferry and flight connections and the booming energy industry. That said, both local and international menus suit all budgets, and cater to varied tastes and dietary requirements. Infact, it is home to Brew Dog craft brewery, and boasts an array of trendy bars and cosy coffee houses.
    • You’ll find a number of theatres, cinemas, the Lemon Tree, the Blue Lamp, Belmont Filmhouse, and a wide range of music concerts available on campus… there are equally tons of choices for going out, exploring the city and taking in its amazing culture.
    • Situated in the city are four shopping centres feature and leading European retail and designer brands; you’ll equally find specialist boutiques, department stores, and a good number of UK and specialist international supermarkets and food markets.
    • The university also maintains an Olympic-sized pool in addition to other sporting facilities – and the city is well suited for water sports, walking, cycling, skiing and a range of other outdoor activities.

    Bursaries and Scholarships

    • The University of Aberdeen awards a number of scholarships across undergraduate courses in order to attract the most talented students, regardless of their financial circumstances.

    How to Apply

    Select your Degree

    Go on the site and look through their wide range of courses on offer. Do well to review to check the entry requirements and the application process, so you know exactly what is asked for inorder to apply for this course. 

    Register with UCAS and complete your application

    Applications for full-time undergraduate degree programmes at Aberdeen are submitted through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Do well to apply and submit an application online to UCAS and ask your schools or college for advice and guidance. 

    If you want to do a part-time degree and are a non-graduating or visiting student, you can apply directly to the institution. 

    The official deadline to complete an application for Medicine and Dentistry is 15 October and 15 January for all other degrees. 

    Your UCAS application will then be sent to the Admissions team where the staff will review it. Afterwards, you will receive an acknowledgement email from the university. Do well to use the UCAS track to keep up to date with the progress of your application and reply to your university/college offers.

    Your Offer

    The university will be in touch early in the new year to inform you if you have been given an offer (conditional or unconditional) or been unsuccessful.
