Syracuse is a private research institution based in Syracuse, New York, Syracuse founded as Genesee Wesleyan Seminary sometime  in 1831 in Lima, New York. It latter became known as the Genesee College in 1850 when the student population increased, moving from a seminary to a college. It was latter established as Syracuse University in 1870 when the campus relocated to its current location. In this article,we  will discuss the tuition fees,ranking and acceptance rate at Syracuse University.

Syracuse University houses more than 22,000 students and 300 student organizations. Its campus displays a Romanesque Revival architectural style across its facilities. The main campus has the Kenneth A. Shaw Quadrangle, colloquially called “The Quad”. It is home to the the Comstock Track Buildings, a district of historical buildings in the campus. Syracuse University also runs the Syracuse Stage, a theatre facility; Joseph I. Lublin House, an extension of Syracuse University in New York City; Paul Greenberg House in Washington DC; and a satellite campus in Los Angeles, California. The extension facility in Downtown Syracuse is home to the Nancy Cantor Warehouse where design majors do their lectures and exhibitions. The Connective Corridor, a joint venture with the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County, houses green structures such as bike paths, pedestrian lanes, and a free loop bus service that connects the Main Campus to the Downtown Campus.

Syracuse University also runs the Carrier Dome, a massive 49,000-seater stadium known as the largest domed stadium in the Northeastern United States. The Hendricks Chapel is an inclusive space, for both believers and non-believers. The chapel even allows for same-sex weddings, catering to various gender identities. It also manages art galleries such as the SU Art Galleries, The Warehouse Gallery, and Robert Menschel Photography Gallery.

The Syracuse Orange fields for the university in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Coast Conference. Previously known as the Orangemen and Orangewomen, it became known as Syracuse Orange in 2004. Its mascot was formerly known as The Saltine Warrior, a Native American-inspired figure that was petitioned to be removed in order to stop stereotyping. It is interesting to note that Syracuse University did not have an official mascot for 17 years until Otto the Orange was conceived to represent the university’s sports teams.

Some of its famous graduates include scientist Robert Jarvik who developed an artificial heart, politician Joe Biden, journalist Ted Koppel, and basketball player Carmelo Anthony. The NBA star financed $3 million to build Syracuse University’s Carmelo Anthony Basketball Center. Carmelo Anthony captained the university’s basketball team to its first ever NCAA basketball championship.

Note that Syracuse University is an expensive institution, with tuition fees at $45,000 every year and total annual expenses roughly $65,000. Syracuse University is #53 in National Universities according to the US News and World Report. Niche places the university at #12 out of 755 in Best Colleges for Communications in America, and #15 out of 116 in Best Colleges for Architectural programs in America. Admissions rate at Syracuse University is relatively competitive, with an acceptance rate of 47% from 33,000 applicants in 2018. Accepted applicants has average SAT scores of 1170 to 1360 out of 1600, while ACT scores range from 26 to 29. Syracuse University requires a $75 application fee for students.
