STUDY IN AUSTRIA: ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS,TUITION FEES, VISA APPLICATION AND COST OF LIVING

Austria is certainly home away from home for the over 3,500 students who flock in for various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs.

    HOW TO APPLY

    To apply, make sure you send your application and supporting materials to either the University or the Australian representative authorities to forward same to the institution on time. Applications must arrive at the University on time; please note that applications sent after the deadline would not be processed by an institution. Some universities run an online portal, where they send important updates to you via email.

    ADMISSION DEADLINES

    All relevant admission documents must arrive an Australian university by September 1 for the winter semester and February 1st for the summer semester. These deadlines are fixed and can’t be shifted; as a result, it is advantageous to submit your application as soon as possible to allow the university enough time to review your documents. For specific programs (medical and engineering programs), please ensure in good time about the admission deadline and application requirements.

    DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION

    *On the University application form, state clearly which discipline you are going in to study.

    *Proof of nationality and legal travel documents.

    *General University entrance certificate

    -Undergraduate studies: secondary school leaving certificate 3 or equivalent

    -Graduate studies: bachelor or equivalent degree

    -for doctoral studies: diploma, master or equivalent degree.

    *For most of the programs, proficiency in German language is required and should be included on the application material.

    *All documents sent must be the original photocopies, and if written in a language other German, have a legal translator translate them into the German language.

    If all requirements are met, the institution will send a notification of admission to the student to attend an entrance interview.

    COST OF STUDYING IN AUSTRIA

    For international students, the cost of studying is approximately 400 Euros. This amount covers accommodation, food and personal expenses. There is a possibility of tuition fees exemption if the student is on a study abroad program or is from an underdeveloped country. Students from central and eastern European countries are exempted from full or partial tuition fees.

    HOW TO OBTAIN AN AUSTRIAN VISA

    *Valid international passport

    *Birth certificate

    *Passport sized photographs

    *Letter of admission

    *Proof of financial means to cover costs of study in Austria

    *Foreign (non-Austrian) documents have to be submitted with a German translation legalized by the Saudi Foreign Ministry. Please enclose a photocopy of each original document.
