Queen Mary University of London: Ranking, Admissions and Tuition

    Queen Mary University of London (Queen Mary) is a renowned world-leading institution in the UK, based at five campuses across east and central London. Founded in 1989, Queen Mary University of London is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the metropolis of London (population range of more than 5,000,000 inhabitants). Queen Mary now offers over 240 degree programmes across three faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Medicine and Dentistry and Science and Engineering

    It is ranked 17th in the European Teaching rankings by the Times Higher Education in 2019 and was the very first Russell Group institution to deliver degree apprenticeship programmes.

    The institution strives to provide students with the ideal learning environment and has invested GBP 105 million to expand and build out facilities over the past five years.     Rankings

    How to apply

    Step 1

    Students must select their preferred course of study from Queen Mary’s list of undergraduate or postgraduate courses.

    Step 2

    Queen Mary currently accepts a broad range of overseas qualifications. Students must check for their country/region information to find out whether they have the right qualifications or otherwise. 

    Step 3

    International students whose first language is not English must be able to provide recent evidence that their spoken and written command of the English language is adequate for the undergraduate programmes for which they have applied. Students should visit the university’s website for the full list of English language requirements.

    Step 4

    All undergraduate applications should be made via UCAS and postgraduate applications should be made online.

    Queen Mary’s teaching methods are varied based on subjects or departments. As well as lectures, students may also experience small group teaching:  seminars, tutorials,exercise classes, workshops and problem-based learning (PBL) sessions (for medicine and some materials courses). Most students will also get the chance to work on group projects – this is useful experience for the real world of work, where teamwork ability and collaboration are highly prized.

    All students are encouraged to develop the skills of independent study and students will get good experience of this working on reports, peer work, essays, projects, final year dissertations and general reading around the subject.

    The university’s Learning Development service teaches students a range of workshops on aspects like organizational skills and note-taking.  and also runs tutorials on any aspect of study plus drop-in maths support regularly
