How to study free in University of Oslo, Norway

    Tuition fees

    Please note that theUniversity of Oslo is currently operating tuition free. However, international students will be required to pay a small semester registration amount of NOK 550 (approx. 70 euro). Additionally, students be required prove their ability to finance their living expenses. The minimum amount required of applicants to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Norway is about NOK 97 850 (approx. 12 000 EUR). This you can show in three ways

    • By submitting a recent official bank statement/transcript in the applicant’s name.
    • Sponsors guarantee letter + sponsor’s recent official bank statement/transcript.
    • A letter proving that you are legally eligible for a scholarship/student loan from your home country.

    Programs in English language

    Please note that all bachelor’s degree programs are instructed entirely in Norwegian language. Only masters and PhD courses are available in English language. Please click here to access all programs that are taught in English language medium.

    Admission requirement

    For undergraduate course, an applicant must possess a minimum of high school certificate which is recognized in Norway as authentic.

    For masters courses, applicants must have completed their undergraduate degree before the application deadline to be eligible to apply.

    How to apply

    Admission application for international students starts by 1st October and end 1st December. To ensure a hitch free application, do well to follow the following steps;

    • Register your application in UiO’s online application system, SøknadsWeb
    • Upload your supporting documents in SøknadsWeb.

    Please ensure that you enter your name as written in your passport. Use one email address to avoid creating multiple user IDs/applications. Make sure that you apply to the correct program type: Quota Scheme/Self-financing. Your application will not be considered if you fail to upload the required supporting documents. You will receive the answer to your application in April/May. When the admission results are ready you will be notified through your registered e-mail address.
