How to study free in Finland

    Finland is a very developed country with numerous internship/job opportunities for both domestic and international students. Finland is operating tuition free for both domestic and international students, as such you won’t be required to pay a dime for your tuition.

    Application Requirements

    Undergraduate studies

    If you have successfully completed your secondary studies and are in possession of a certified secondary school leaving certificate and qualify for university studies in your home country, you might also qualify for university education in Finland. However, you are requested to prove your level of English. In some cases, you are also requested to take additional qualifying courses.

    Postgraduate studies

    If you are applying for a master’s degree program at a university in Finland, you need to be in possession of a relevant bachelor’s or equivalent degree diploma.

    English Requirements for International students

    If English was not the language of instruction in your previous school and you are not a student from another state of the European Union or EEA, you will need to prove your English language skills with one of the following:

    • IELTS: a minimum score of 5,5
    • TOEFL: score 550 paper-based test/ 213 computer-based/ 79-80 Internet-based test

    How to Apply

    Although you can send your application directly to the Finnish university you are interested in, you may also fill in the online joint application form if you intend to study a degree conducted in English.

    Please, note that if you register when the application period is closed, you will receive a notification by email when the application period is opened again.

    Application Deadline

    The application period begins around November and runs through February – April depending on the study program. Please, check at the institution website the specific deadline for the course of your choice.
