How to apply for admission in Luxembourg

If you didn’t know, Luxembourg is a European country; as such if you are studying in Luxembourg you are automatically doing your study in Europe. Students don’t have to pay tuition fees for the majority of study programs at higher education in Luxembourg with the exemption of a few specific courses, with tuition fees starting at about EUR 600 per semester. As such, it is more or less free tuition studies at universities in Luxembourg. However, students have to pay a small registration fee of EUR 100 per semester. In this post, we will put you through the various steps needed to complete an application to universities in Luxembourg.

Application to universities in Luembourg is made easy with the online application process for programs at undergraduate and graduate level at university in Luxembourg as explained in the steps below:

  • First search for a study program or course that best meets your personal expectations and academic profile.
  • Fill in the online application form through the single online application system
  • Once you have registered, you will be informed which documents to attach to your application.

Application requirements

Undergraduate studies

If you have successfully completed upper secondary studies in one o, are in possession of a valid school leaving certificate and qualify for higher education studies in your home country, you may also qualify for higher education studies in Luxembourg. However, you are requested to prove your level of English, French, German or Luxembourgish depending on the study program you have applied for. In some cases, you are also requested to take additional qualifying courses.

Postgraduate studies

If you are applying for a master’s program at university in Luxembourg, you are required to be in possession of a relevant bachelor’s or equivalent degree diploma

Language requirements

Note that the most common languages used for instructions are English, French, German and Luxembourgish

 

Deadline

Generally, there are two main application periods available for applicants: :

From January to February for programs in the summer semester (from February to June)

From July to September for programs in the winter semester (from September to January)
