Cost of living in Norway
Please note that the cost of living in Norway is slightly higher than other European countries. Students would have to budget between 800 Euro to 1000 Euro for cost of living in a month. This amount will cover the following expenses: food, accommodation, travels, books etc. However, note that the cost of living in Norway is dependent on several factors like the spending habit of the student and the city where the student stays. Big cities usually have higher living cost than smaller ones.
Application times
Universities in Norway usually admit students once per year. For major universities, application deadline for foreign students starts by 1st October of every year.

Tuition fees
Norwegian universities operate tuition free/free tuition, that means students at state universities and university colleges do not pay tuition fees. This is true for all academic levels, including undergraduate studies, Masters programs and Ph.D. programs. However, international students should note that they will have to pay a semester fee of NOK 300-600 (35.78 Euro – 71.56 Euro) each semester. Before sitting for your university’s exam, this fee will have to be paid in full. Also the fee grants students membership in the local student welfare organization, which in turn entitles them to several other benefits. These benefits may include on campus health services, counseling, access to sports facilities and cultural activities.
Work and study
Students are usually allowed to work part-time for up to 20 hours per week when a work permit is granted. An application for a work permit should be accompanied by a statement from the institution confirming that the work will not affect the study progress. A letter from the employer stating that the student has a job offer must also be submitted. Students are normally allowed to work full time during semester breaks.
