Entry requirements
Entry requirements at Cardiff University differs from course to course. For some undergraduate degree programmes, international students are required to undertake an International Foundation Programme prior starting their undergraduate study, if they don’t already have the appropriate subject background for direct entry to the first year, or they haven’t previously studied the appropriate subjects in the required depth
The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a year long programme designed to give international students the academic and English language skills needed to begin a variety of degrees with the University. The IFP program offers automatic progression to a range of degree schemes in some of the best academic departments in the United Kingdom.
The University accepts a number of different language qualifications for entry to its courses and for some programmes, the University may even ask for higher grades in order to cope with the requirements of the course. Majority of undergraduate courses at Cardiff University require an IELTS score of 6.5 (with minimum 5.5 in all sub-scores), with certain courses requiring a higher score of 7.0.

Recent developments include a new student housing at Talybont Gate, and the University is also investing up to 40million pounds over the next few years to refurbish its existing teaching and learning facilities.
