Application Deadlines for Study in Most European Countries

deadlineThis post will discuss an important feature of the application process which is the application deadline to submit college applications. A good number of applications on a yearly basis are rejected because they usually come after the deadline.

In this post we will be evaluating the application deadlines for admission and study in some of Europe’s renowned countries such as; Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

GERMANY

Application deadlines for study in German universities are usually two periods:

JANUARY: Endeavor to submit your application materials before January 15 for programs that will start in the summer semester and these include:.

March-August for universities of applied science

April-September for universities

JULY: Please submit your application documents before July 15 for academic programs that will start in the winter semester and these include:

September-February for universities of applied science

October-March for universities

 

AUSTRIA

Usually two application windows, and are as follows:

SEPTEMBER 1: University applications should be submitted before September 1 for academic programs of winter semester

FEBRUARY: Submit applications for programs starting in the summer semester

 

NORWAY

Most academic programs in Norway usually have one application window and that is March 1st for programs in September, Nordic students are encouraged to submit their applications before April 15th. However, for those for various reasons couldn’t submit before March 1st, would have another opportunity to submit by July 1st. Contact your ideal school for more information.

 

FINLAND

POLYTHECNICS

For academic courses taught in English, application deadlines are usually six months before the start of the program. All relevant documents and application materials must be submitted before the deadline.

UNIVERSITIES

The Application window is around November to February and sometimes April depending on the program. Applicants should contact their schools for the exact deadline.

 

SWEDEN

For courses taught in English medium, applications are done on the dates below:

MIDDLE OF JANUARY: for programs for fall semester includes international students

MIDDLE OF AUGUST: for studies in spring semester

MIDDLE OF OCTOBER: for studies in spring semester, non EU students should apply during this period because they may not receive their residential permit on time

 

FRANCE

In France the academic year begins October 1st and ends June 30th and is in two parts

First semester: October-January

Second semester: February-may

Start your application in January

 

NETHERLANDS

Generally deadlines differ among study programs or courses. Applications should be done months ahead before the start of the program. Winter semester starts in September and summer semester in February
