2015/2016 MASTERCARD SCHOLARS PROGRAM AT ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, USA

    Mastercard foundationThe MasterCard foundation is announcing the availability of the MasterCard scholars program at Arizona State University in the United States. This scholarship rewards academically talented students from sub-Sahara Africa who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities.
    Those awarded the scholarship; demonstrate high academic achievement, exceptional records of service and activity in their schools and communities, and a commitment to return to Africa after their studies to make an impact on social and economic change in their home countries.

    SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT
    The Scholars program gives financial aid assistance that cover the costs of a bachelor’s degree, which must be obtained within eight semesters, or four academic years. This scholarship amount covers the cost of travel, tuition, housing, food, living expenses, internship experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, and summer programs, such as a freshman retreat in northern Arizona, a Broadway show at Gammage Auditorium and a senior retreat. Students also are required to take about nine credit hours of summer school courses.

    OTHER BENEFITS
    Beyond the financial assistance, scholars are also provided with a well-structured support system that includes an array of mentoring and cultural transition services to ensure each scholars’ academic growth , community engagement, and a fully equipped transition to employment opportunities that will catalyze socio-economic change in sub Saharan Africa.

    SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
    • Undergraduate applicant seeking a bachelor’s degree
    • From Sub-Sahara Africa
    • C living in Sub-Saharan Africa

    SELECTION CRITERIA
    • Strong academic achievement and potential
    • Must demonstrate ethical service and leadership in school or community
    • Should be motivated and committed to return to Sub-Saharan Africa after graduation and give back to his community
    • Verified disadvantaged socio-economic status

    APPLICATION PROCEDURE
    December 1st, 2014 is the deadline for submitting applications for The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at ASU for the 2015 – 2016 academic year.
    The application for the 2015-16 academic year will open on August 1st, 2014. Selection timeline for 2015:
    Online scholarship application must be submitted by December 1, 2014.
    Scans of certified copies of transcripts and national exam results for last three years of secondary school must be emailed by December 1, 2014.
    Recommendation forms must be submitted by December 15th, 2014.
    Semi-finalists will be notified on February 13th, 2015.
    Finalists will be determined by March 27, 2015.
    All other candidates will be notified by April 6, 2015.
